Birdsville

Good Old Chinwagging Posted on 19 August 2007 by Chinwagger30 September 2019

Last night was really cold we went to bed in long johns and T-shirts. I set the alarm for 5.30am however when it went off it was too cold to get up and still dark and very quiet. It was one of the quietest nights I have experienced. There was no insect or wildlife noise and certainly no humans. The … Continue reading →

Chinchilla to Charleville via Muckadilla

Good Old Chinwagging Posted on 16 August 2007 by Chinwagger5 February 2018

Today we pack up and move to the next place, this is our first morning breaking down the camp and packing up so it is a bit of an experiment. We seemed to click on getting things put together and it all worked a lot better than the unpacking did last night. The stop at Chinchilla had been a very … Continue reading →

2007 To the Rock and Back

Good Old Chinwagging Posted on 15 August 2007 by Chinwagger5 November 2017

This is a journal of our trip out west in August and September of 2007. Our plan is to drive to Birdsville following the Birdsville and Oodnadatta Tracks to the Stuart Highway, heading north. We would then stop at Uluru and Alice Springs and continue home via Tennant Creek and Mt Isa. Some short instructions in looking at this diary. We have used Google Maps to provide a complete Route Map. At … Continue reading →

First time to Stanthorpe

Good Old Chinwagging Posted on 29 April 2005 by Chinwagger5 November 2017

Drove down to Stanthorpe left around 7.30 and went via the office then on south west and we arrived around 11:30. Stopped for gas at Warwick, the guy at the gas station said it has not rained since Christmas. The wind had been blowing from the south and this was wrong for rain it had to come from the west. … Continue reading →

Duaringa Hotel

Good Old Chinwagging Posted on 19 June 2004 by Alison Herring21 December 2017

It was close to 9am by the time we left Charters Towers on Saturday morning. We are all fuelled up and on the road south to Emerald. Much the same scenery as yesterday, but with a few more cars and less road trains. We drove through Emerald just after 2pm, so we agreed on 3.30 as our “stop and look … Continue reading →
