Regardless of the  current fuel prices it occurred to me recently that there are some rat bags in the industry that consistently over charge for fuel and it’s not the small guys.

Recently driving through Gympie in QLD fuel prices caught my eye. My observations are diesel as my vehicle uses diesel.  I purchased fuel at home and paid 163.9  a litre remembering we are urban Brisbane.

My interest peeked when I went through a small dot of a place whose name I can’t remember who wasn’t on the main highway but at the end of a dirt road. The price for diesel was 143.5. I surmised this must be an old price for fuel, surely not for recent top up after all it’s trade would be much slower than service stations on the main road.

Anyway back to Gympie, the first price I saw was from a rickety place with fuel at 149.9, after that I saw 150’s up-to 155’s from various stations including some international chains. Then comes Coles/Shell – 168.9

Whats that about I say, these guys in an extremely busy town on the Bruce Highway with huge through put and they are so far out of kilter you would have to believe they made a mistake.

When I returned home the same fuel brand came up three times and all the same, 168.9 and to add fuel to the fire, pun intended, our local Shell displayed these prices for weeks. My own local 7-Eleven from which I fill had had price drop in my absence and was now 159.9

My advice to anyone is to keep a eye on Shell because even with discounts from Coles they are significantly higher priced than any other service station.
