A good old chinwag is a part of the fun of life, telling tales of exploits in travel, of that fishing trip or that thing that happened on the way to the pub. Here’s some of the fun we have had with family, friends and while earning a living. We enjoy telling about it as much as doing it.

If you want to know when we post another exploit then register and we will send you a mail.

Hope you enjoy

Bulldozers, Golf and Fishing

Getting to Ngawi is a mission the road is simple enough to start with across the plains of the Wairarapa, but just before Lake Ferry, you head east and very quickly are on a sealed road hacked out of the cliffs. The cliffs hug the coast, in places old baches are stuck to the seaward side, waiting for the ocean ...
Just Fishing – What Could Possibly Go Wrong

Just Fishing – What Could Possibly Go Wrong

Sometimes you shouldn't ask questions like "what could possibly go wrong", you might not like the answer. This fishing trip, I was going to call it an adventure but it was never meant to be an adventure I am just fishing trip with the lads. We should have realised there might be more to the trip, knowing that one of ...
The Gazza Curse Strikes Again.

The Gazza Curse Strikes Again.

The Gazza Curse Strikes again, flashed through his thoughts as Gazza speed up State Highway One towards  "The Skippers" house , he shook his head to make this thought go away, surely not again surely. After getting a dose of food poisoning Gazza found the strength to make his way to his mates house, "The skipper". The purpose of Gazzas ...
Coast Guard Rescue

Coast Guard Rescue

Sometimes things just don't go as right as they could and sometimes when that happens particular people are always present. You feel that perhaps, just perhaps they have a little bit influence, it could be some sort of bad air or perhaps it’s a form of karma attached to your relationship with that person. Just maybe, a bit anyway, or ...
Gazza Curse Again

Gazza Curse Again

On previous occasions I have professed there are some people that bad things just happen when in their company . Gazza is one of those people, this is an account of such an occasion. He arrived to go fishing. I didn't immediately think of him as the instigator or the catalyst for each event, it's just if you sit back and ...
Arriving in POM

Arriving in POM

The hop from Cairns to Port Moresby is quite short.  I'd always imagined PNG to be a wet, a hot steamy and stormy jungle sort of a climate but arriving in POM (Port Moresby) it appeared the complete opposite. The country side is dry and the grasses and bushes appear as if a big bush fire had just rushed through ...

Is Easter fishing cancelled again

Its Thursday 21st April 2011 and its been raining for three days, our back garden has had 24cm, 23cm and 19cm, Harley tells me there has been more further north at Cooroy. Great as Cooroy is close to where we are about to go canoeing and camping for five days backwoods style, unsupported with constant rain, on top of all ...

2003 March Breaking Bones

We had planned this fishing and camping trip for a couple of weeks and the original plan had been to motor up the Bribie Passage on the Friday afternoon and possibly get an evening fish in and then get out at dawn the next morning. I had worked from home on the Friday with the plan of getting away around ...

First Fish on the Caboolture River

We went out in the boat for the first time in months this weekend, before any launching of the boat, even a little aluminium dinghy like ours takes a while to prepare, this time it took a  couple of hours,  however when finished I thought I had organised it all. We had intended to get away around 9am but didn't actually ...

Sixteen Hundred Kilometres from Home to Kuranda

Left the house at 7am on another great trek into the unknown. We would have liked to have left much earlier but were rather surprised to get away at all after a series of things through the week seemed to conspire against us. Heading north on the Bruce Highway, we have no firm plans at this stage what we'll see ...

Signs of a storm everywhere

Never big on planning we decided about a week before Christmas this year that we would spend a few days heading west from our home in QLD. We had to return by the 3rd Jan to pick up people from Brisbane Airport. The Internet our source for suitable places to visit and things to do on the way, as we ...

1998 Travelling West from Canberra

In 1998 on boxing day bored and looking forward to a few days off with nothing planned we decided instead falling asleep in the back yard we would drive a little west.  This journey was unplanned and took us across three states, from the to the outback in Silverton NSW, the very bottom of mainland Australia and to the lush ...
