Aunty Sues for dinner

Good Old Chinwagging Posted on 20 March 1997 by Chinwagger10 January 2016

One of the very nice things we found in Lord Howe was the number of small quite nice restaurants serving extremely good meals from modern menus of nouveau Australian and Mediterranean style food. Aunty Sues is up on a hill on Andersons Road. It is an open-timber structure, with decking and large wall to ceiling sliding doors all around. The … Continue reading →

Snorkelling at North Beach

Good Old Chinwagging Posted on 19 March 1997 by Chinwagger21 December 2017

Today was a lazy day we only snorkelled for an hour, walked for two hours and biked about ten kilometres. We went to North Beach by boat with a nice young guy called Peter. Peter had been on the island about six and a half years and was an experienced diving instructor. He took us to North Beach and then … Continue reading →

Good Old Chinwagging Posted on 18 March 1997 by Chinwagger10 January 2016

The sea boiled with fish as the whole process took on a feeding frenzy feel about it, with fish bunting your legs. The … Continue reading →

St Patrick’s Day

Good Old Chinwagging Posted on 17 March 1997 by Chinwagger21 December 2017

Today was meant to be Mt Gower day; however we woke up at 5am in the morning to the sound of heavy rain on the tin roof of our little motel room, it continued to rain until just after 9am. At the south of the island they had three inches of rain and to the north they had about an … Continue reading →

Ron’s cruise around the island

Good Old Chinwagging Posted on 16 March 1997 by Chinwagger10 January 2016

Ron from the ramble turned up at our cabin at 8:30 to tell us he was running another of his cruises around the island at 10:30. It was another perfect day on Lord Howe Island. The cruise was great, the cliffs of Mt Gower were awesome as bounced underneath them. I had some sobering moments looking at these huge volcanic … Continue reading →
